Young Colors began in 1998 after Rob and I finished working with Esprit, which had taken us the the Far East for 3 years. Then we backpacked Southeast Asia for 3 months...seeking indigenous art process to make a unique collection of children's clothing, gifts and accessories...On that trip, I discovered batik. I immediately thought it would be an awesome fabric for kids' clothing. The ancient batik art process utilizes nature to create incredible fabrics. When these fabrics are made in bright, fun colors, they make wonderful and practical clothing for children. After further research, and a blessing disguised as a turn of events, Rob and I moved back to the states and decided to build the business together.
What an experience building our own brands...via our Best in class Boutiques that we wholesale to....they have helped us dress cute kids for 17 years. This summer we opened a flagship Young Colors store in the Colorado mountain town of Breckenridge....the store is in the heart of historic Main Street in a Victorian home built in 1889...To further our Retail endeavors we opened a new concept store before Xmas - Cowboys and Daisies - a place for mothers and daughters to shop together...we offer the Tween Collection COLORS, our newest brand for the 7 to 16 girl with discriminating taste for comfy and fun outfits!
When we are not designing kids clothes, shipping to our wholesale customers, or playing shopkeeper in Breckenridge....we are generally skiing. Skiing is our passion...actually Rob, after 8 years teaching kids at Monarch, moved to Breckenridge Ski and Ride School....he specializes in teaching skiing to kids, families and seniors...come on up and let's ski!
